Freelance Routesetting

I have been setting since 2021 and have set at dozens of gyms across the country commercially and for various events, including the 2025/26 Youth Boulder Nationals. If you are seeking a routesetter for a commercial set, an event, or a consultation, please reach out!

From the time I started climbing, routesetting fascinated me. I saw how absorbed the setters were in their work; the world around their blocked-off setting zone disappeared. I was intrigued.

In 2021, I was offered the opportunity to set as a spot on the setting team of my home gym opened up; I took it without hesitation.

I first learned the true meaning of flow through climbing. I quickly discovered that I could achieve that same feeling through routesetting. Routesetting made time feel warped and got my mind focused on a single task (which is rare).

I instantly fell in love with routesetting; it was climbing, but it was not climbing. In parallel to climbing, you can keep working hard to improve, and the game has infinite levels (well, sort of). Routesetting has also allowed me to work in the field I am so passionate about and uniquely connect with the community.

I strive to continue to grow as a setter and climber for as long as possible. Like climbing, one of the best ways to learn is from people with more experience than you, so I am always looking for guest-setting opportunities and workshops. I also believe that the best way to learn is by teaching, which is why I also love leading beginner and intermediate routesetting courses.
